The Corn Dolly Collection was inspired by human connections to the Earth.

Scroll

Corn Dollies have been around for thousands of years with many designs dating back around 4000 years BC. Corn dolly really means “spirit of the grain” and ancient cultures believed that this spirit resided in the last sheaf gathered at harvest time.

A figure would be made from this sheaf and would be kept until the following year when it would be returned home to the soil. The belief is that the Spirit would provide good luck for a prosperous and bountiful harvest.

According to some folklore, men and women would also make small Corn Dollies. They would give them to their sweethearts as love tokens, representing the fervent hope the future will hold prosperity and abundance.
